This issue of the electronic journal Sillages critiques offers a selection of texts which proceed from the Émergence project, the title of which is ClioS : Immediate history on the British Stage which was directed between 2019 and 2021 by Line Cottegnies et Elisabeth Angel-Perez at Sorbonne Université. The project studied British drama about immediate history in early modernity and in the contemporary period. It aimed at defining the specific nature of this theatre for a time of crisis which appropriates « contemporary » history, whether recent or strictly-speaking « immediate » as defined by historicans. In order to do so, it brought together specialists of the early modern as well as contemporary stage.
