About the journal

Founded in 2013 by art historians and philosophers, Regards croisés is an annual Franco-German journal whose aim is to reduce the reciprocal misunderstanding of the current state of research in art history, aesthetics and comparative literature of each of both linguistic areas – a lack of knowledge largely due to the absence of translations. Its ambition is not only to allow a better visibility of important publications in the neighbouring country and to invite original and critical views on them of both French and German researchers, but also to open a space for Franco-German academic dialogues. The bilingual thematic dossier with four essays is alternately devoted to an author from the field of aesthetics, art history and comparative literature still little known in the other linguistic area or to a cross-cutting theme.
