The Revue d'Anthropologie des Connaissances (launched in February 2007) proposes to explore a field of research consisting of numerous studies, both theoretical and practical, which aim to show how knowledge is generated and disseminated. The journal publishes articles from the social sciences that focus on the study of knowledge as discourse, as practices, or as material infrastructures; on the conditions of its production, use, transmission and, more broadly, its mobilization by human collectives. The term 'anthropology' is taken here not in its particular sense, but in the general sense of a multidisciplinary investigation of practices and conducts, of representations and ideologies, of professions, organisations and institutions, of techniques and productions in their historical singularities.

The journal must meet two essential criteria:

• To explore, rigorously and in an informed manner, the dimensions of knowledge, without exclusion, while maintaining an active discussion on concepts, methods, investigations, themes and reflections;

• Satisfy the rigorous academic requirements by only publishing articles once they have been accepted by the journal's editorial board but also by anonymous reviewers from the academic fields to which the authors of the articles belong.

Most issues of the Revue d'Anthropologie des Connaissances consist of a special issue, articles in a Varia section, and book reviews. The range of topics is deliberately as wide as possible to reflect the diversity of approaches and scientific disciplines. Special issues are entrusted to invited editors who have the necessary delegation and autonomy to mobilise contributors and ensure that the issue is of good quality, while respecting the journal's evaluation procedures. The guest editors are invited to organise an open call for papers and, if possible, a writing workshop bringing together the authors whose articles have been selected by the editorial board, after receiving the feedback of two external reviewers. Articles proposed spontaneously in the Varia section are submitted for evaluation by two external reviewers and by the editorial board. Book reviews are evaluated by two members of the editorial board, and can be assisted by an external reviewer.

The Revue d'Anthropologie des Connaissances publishes original results. It favors the publication of innovative texts and especially those that contribute to the renewal of research approaches. Its ambition is to revisit the objects of the anthropology of knowledge. It aims to be a scientific and stimulating agora in the field. It publishes empirical studies (particularly field studies) as well as theoretical debates and syntheses. Published articles are preferably based on solid theoretical foundations and empirical work. The Journal also pay particular attention to methodological debates. Articles with a research purpose should make conceptual references explicit. Theoretical works should be articulated with empirical data.

Book reviews must present a critical point of view on the content of the work. Book reviews can deal with a theme developed by several books or by several articles from an author addressing a coherent topic.

The texts must be written in a form accessible to other disciplines. A presentation of the disciplinary context of the work may be encouraged in the articles. The editorial board will ensure, through the selection of ad hoc experts, that the articles will be evaluated both in terms of the journal's audience and the criteria of the author's discipline (see further details in the instructions to authors).

Funding

In order to guarantee its independence and ensure its multidisciplinary profile, it was decided not to attach the Revue d'Anthropologie des Connaissances to a particular institution. The journal is therefore published by the Société d’Anthropologie des Connaissances which was founded in May 2006. It requires the financial support of its members in order to function.

The journal lives solely on grants, membership fees in the Society and voluntary support from authors and invited editors.

The journal is supported by the Institut des Sciences Humaines et Sociales of the CNRS.

IRD, IFRIS and UMR PACTE contribute to the support of the Journal.

Publication

The Revue d’Anthropologie des Connaissances is published online and accessible free of charge. The texts are published in two forms:

• in PDF format, downloadable and printable;

• in HTML format, for on-screen consultation.

Issues are also available in ePub format.

Rights

Authors sign a right of cession with the Société d’Anthropologie des Connaissances; they remain the full owners and are sole responsible for their writings.

The journal is freely accessible. Readers have the right to read, download, copy, distribute and print articles freely, in accordance with the principles of open access defined by the Budapest Declaration. The journal is catalogued in the International Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
