Ethics Charter

Preamble

Études irlandaises is a collective endeavour combining the efforts of authors, reviewers, the Editorial and Scientific committees of the journal and our partners at the Presses universitaires de Caen. All parties are expected to apply the ethical rules listed below.

Authors

1. Authors can submit texts in French, English or Irish. Texts must not be submitted to other journals simultaneously. Subject to the agreement of the Editorial Committee and acknowledgement of the original publication in the second journal, translations of texts may be published elsewhere at a future date.

2. All funding for the research involved in a submitted text must be mentioned in the text.

3. All sources must be clearly cited. Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions.

4. In the case of co-authored texts, the co-author who corresponds with Études irlandaises is responsible for making sure that all other contributors agree with the text submitted.

5. Authors may benefit from the help of the Editorial Committee to translate the summary of the article into French or English.

Editorial Committee

1. The Editorial Committee will endeavour to apply fair and rigorous selection parameters to all submitted texts, respecting the instructions to authors listed on the journal’s website.

2. All submitted texts will be checked on receipt by the Editorial Committee for relevance (to the theme of the call for submissions, to the field of Irish Studies) and compliance with basic academic writing conventions.

3. Texts deemed relevant will then be subjected to a double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers. The Editorial Committee guarantees that the identities of both the author and reviewer will be kept hidden from the other party. When the reviewers have submitted their reports, it will be these reports only and not the texts themselves which will be discussed by the Editorial Committee.

4. The Editorial Committee guarantees that all submitted content will remain confidential and never be shared with any party other than the peer reviewers.

5. The Editorial Committee guarantees that all efforts will be made to maintain the impartiality and objectivity of reviews and evaluations.

6. The Editorial Committee will do everything in its power to respect all relevant laws, especially those concerning defamation and intellectual property rights. Plagiarism will lead to texts being rejected.

7. Texts are published under a CC-BY (Creative Commons Attribution) license. This license allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator.

Peer Reviewers

1. Reviewers guarantee that the content of all texts sent to them will remain confidential.

2. All conflicts of interest will be declared immediately.

3. By accepting to review a text, reviewers confirm that they are competent to perform this task and will submit their report within the agreed timeframe.

4. Reviewers will do everything in their power to ensure that criticism in reports is constructive and focused on either improving the quality of the text or explaining clearly why it should not be published, dealing with the content of the text and not the character or quality of the author.
