Haut de pageGeneral presentation of the journal
L'Espace Politique, an online journal of political geography, was created in 2007 to provide a space for reflection, debate and experimentation on the spatial dimensions of power at all scales.
The journal publishes articles by researchers in the humanities and social sciences who propose a spatial reading of the relationships and processes of power, in all types of space (urban and rural, material and immaterial, etc.) and in all regions of the world. Approaches can be thematic, methodological, epistemological or reflexive.
Textual, visual and sound productions are welcome (see presentation of sections).
All proposals may be submitted in French, English or other languages, depending on the issue.
The Journal published 3 issues per year. Calls for contributions of upcoming issues are available on this page: calls for contributions.
Every issues of the Journal are subdivided into a thematic part and a Miscellaneous. The journal welcomes at any time any paper on subjects other than those presented in the call for contributions. For more details, go to the page submission of article.

The different sections

This section welcomes texts on unpublished research. They may respond to a call for papers in a thematic issue, or be part of a varia.
The magazine examines contributions received for varia on an ongoing basis.
Interviews are also welcome in this section.
The expected length of productions is between 30,000 and 60,000 characters.
Experiments section
For a sensitive and creative way of doing and sharing research
This section is open to sensitive and creative experiments that aim to produce and disseminate knowledge in political geography in new ways.
The proposed productions can be textual, filmic, visual and/or sound. All must address a research question.
This section also aims to legitimize this type of production, which contributes to the enrichment of knowledge and know-how.
Accepted formats: films, sound productions (podcasts, documentaries, etc.), photographic series, performances, drawings, poetry, literature, theater, etc.
Videos and sound productions must be submitted in advance by the authors to an appropriate hosting platform. For further information, visit https://objs-fr.hypotheses.org/810.
Each production must be accompanied by a text contextualizing it, justifying it and placing it in critical perspective with other works (scientific and artistic).
Expected length: 20,000 to 30,000 characters (excluding production).
Reviews section
This section welcomes analytical and critical reviews of works (scientific, literary, etc.), scientific or artistic events (exhibitions, films, etc.) and theses or Habilitations à diriger des recherches, with the aim of proposing a reading through the prism of political geography.
The review should both present the work or event (structure, main ideas, concepts, etc.), and discuss its contribution to political geography.
A few bibliographical references (between 5 and 10) are expected to support the review.
The expected length is 10,000 to 15,000 characters.
For details of how to submit these various sections, please go to the instructions for authors page.
