reCHERches. Culture et Histoire dans l'Espace Roman is a bi-annual monographic journal with an international vocation and is published by the Presses universitaires de Strasbourg. The journal, created in 2008, is dedicated to the Spanish, Italian, Lusophone and Romanian research areas, but remains open to all Romance languages. All disciplines are represented: literature, visual arts, linguistics, civilization, history, philosophy and sociology, over a period ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. Our journal, which emphasizes the concept of “Romance space”, intends to address cultural productions, Romance languages and spaces in their interactions, according to the most varied methodologies and disciplines.

Editorial slant

reCHERches retained the concept of “Romance space” rather than that of “Romance studies” which refers to a strongly marked tradition and did not allow to highlight the opening towards multidisciplinary and more socio-political and cultural approaches. issues such as identity, memory, minorities, the Other, the migrant, exile, or even, for example, the impact of economic crises on cultural productions. Its thematic issues welcome not only theoretical works and in-depth articles (unpublished), but also textual, graphic or photographic creations by artists and writers. The languages of the journal are French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian and English.
