Approche culturelle et civilisationniste de la classe de langue dans les sections de techniciens supérieurs
Abstracts
Henri Houdebert starts by emphasizing that, unless they are 100% technical, authentic documents used in the teaching of English to BTS classes always carry a variable cultural message that the learner should be made to understand if they are to have more than just a literal understanding of the text. Applying this notion to choosing suitable documents, Martine Rebillon then presents a comparative approach which has been successfully put into practice with a class of electrotechnicians. Pascale Barat then describes the same central theme and the potentially rich use that can be made of the cultural aspect of such simple documents as job applications and curriculum vitae. Only a well-organised digression on the cultural content of a document can revive the flagging enthusiasm of students not particularly interested in English language.
